Check Diversion
The FCS Check Diversion Program is based in the belief that not all bad check writers are criminals. The program allows check writers to avoid criminal prosecution through the process of restitution and education, resulting in the prevention of future offenses.

For those who refuse pre-trial diversion, the program offers a professional, streamlined and cost-effective process for a district attorney’s office and law enforcement to pursue accountability and prosecution.

Here’s how the Check Diversion Program works:

Activation
This is always done within 24 hours, checks can be accepted manually or electronically.

Aggregation
Performed on each and every check to ensure we are making contact with repeat offenders.

Communication
Letters and phone calls are made to the bad check writer

Investigation
For bad check writers who do not cooperate with program an investigation will be opened.

Support/Reports
Our call center is staffed from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Central Time for inquiries and support, and we offer online reporting.

Education
Financial management classes are required for bad check writers.

RESULTS

• Recidivism from class participants is less than 1%.
• More than 90% of all checks coming into the Diversion Program are “Account Closed” checks.
• Our projections forecast that merchants will receive over $3 million from “Account Closed” checks during calendar year 2009.
